First track announcement

As promised, we’re going to tease you with the track listing a little in advance of the release of our debut album. We’re revealing them in no particular order, just as the fancy takes us. So, without further ado, we’re pleased to announce that the new album will include Redemption.

Written around 2011 by André Obremski, Andy Kelly, Edmund Kirby and Rob McDermott, Redemption was a firm favourite with fans at our early gigs. The lyrics deal with the theme of a poisonous love affair, and convey their message through the Victorian “language of flowers”. The song was based on a guitar riff that came out of an early jam session, and when Rob asked André for a blank demo to write a melody and lyrics over, he was shocked to be presented with a stadium rock epic over 6 minutes in length. The huge guitar and drum introduction and coda have made it a popular show closer over the years, and it served as the opening song at our legendary show at the Crumblin’ Cookie in Leicester in 2012.

Album recording begins

This afternoon, Harlequin’s Kiss begin the first leg of recording for their debut album. As an unsigned band, we are working the schedule out according to circumstance, so we can’t confirm a release date just yet. With the demos already done, we’re beginning work in earnest on the real recordings, and this week we’re laying down the drum tracks at Robannas Studios in Birmingham – probably most famous for hosting the Pussycat Dolls for some of their sessions recording Jai Ho.

There will be regular updates about our progress, including vlogs on our youtube channel (subscribe here). As a little extra treat, we’re going to make announcements about the track listing over the next few months. Our first track announcement will be at noon the Friday, through all our usual media outlets.
